Lutheran Women in Mission

About the LWML

The LWML (Lutheran Women in Mission) is the official women’s organization of The Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod. Its headquarters is located in St. Louis, MO. The national LWML is broken into 26 districts across the United States.

Our LWML Unit, here at Shepherd of the Coast, is in the LWML Florida-Georgia District, which is divided into 19 zones, with a total of 180 churches. We are in the First Coat Zone, which extends from Palm Coast, Florida up into part of Georgia and includes 11 churches.

Mission Statement

As Lutheran Women in Mission, we joyfully proclaim Christ, support missions, and equip women to honor God by serving others.

The Mite Box

The Mite Box offering is based on the biblical account of the widow’s mite (Luke 21: 1-4)  We bring our Mite Box offering on the first Sunday of each month and place it into the large wooden LWML Mite Box in the Narthex.  The small Mite Boxes are not just for LWML members – anyone can take one of the small boxes by the large Mite Box for their own Mite offerings and bring it to church on the first Sunday of the following month.  Our mite offering is sent to the LWML Florida-Georgia District.  They in turn send it on to the national LWML office.
